Talking about returning visits…my friend Jochen, who is currently working in Singapore and whom I visited a few weeks ago, has come to town. He arrived late at night (like everyone coming from Singapore to Bagalore), so we started the weekend by sleeping quite long.
Afterwards, we did a sightseeing/temple tour in Bangalore. We visited the city market, then went to the Bangalore castle (pretty boring, not much to see). After a short break at the Cubbon Park, we went on to the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Conciousness) temple.
The ISKCON temple is very well organized. Visitors are put into several queues, and one queue at a time is admitted into the temple. Shoes, cameras, and bags are kept in long rows of hooks. Inside the temple, there is only one possibility to pass through, you only have the choice to ascend via the prayer stairs (Hare Krshna, Hare Krshna, Krshna, Krshna, Hare, Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama, Rama, Hare, Hare in endless sequence) or pass by and go directly into the temple. Fortunately, all the commerce is put at the end of the temple, so you are not bugged by it durig most of your visit.
Jochen and I finished our sightseeing tour by visiting the Bull’s Temple, and then headed back to the Guesthouse.
On Sunday, we enjoyed the brunch at the Leela Palace, and that is basically all we did on that day (hey, eat four hours, and then complain again!).
On Monday and Tuesday, I had to work, but Jochen enjoyed himself (more or less) by visiting Mysore and doing some shopping around Bangalore. And Wednesday morninh, 2 am, he left again back to Singapore. Thanks for the visit!
